FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
In FROM ASHES TO GLORY, Minister Barbara Smith Shares How One Can Recover from the Pain of Sexual Abuse

ATLANTA, (August 28,
2008) -– Licensed minister, former nurse, and author, Barbara
Smith, discusses in a candid, friendly, and conversational tone the
biblical and medical perspectives of rape in her book, From Ashes to Glory.
Having worked as a registered nurse for over twenty years, Smith has
firsthand experience in working with rape victims and victims of sexual
abuse, as well as their families. The love of Jesus Christ radiates
through her as she explains how many women are left feeling after
undergoing such a devastating experience.
Pulling from her understanding and knowledge of the Scriptures, Barbara
Smith uses the life of Tamar, King David's daughter, who herself was a
victim of rape, as the foundation stone in her book, From Ashes to Glory.
With patience and wisdom, she guides victims and their families through
the healing process. After reading the truths contained in this
anointed book, anyone who has gone through such a devastating
experience such as rape, will be taken from a life of shame and
hopelessness to a life of joy, peace, and love in Jesus Christ.
In the foreword, Delores "Mom" Winans writes: "In From Ashes to Glory,
I am mesmerized by how Barbara takes a topic as serious as rape, and
explains how women are left feeling after such a devastating
experience. She dissects and discusses the topic from several aspects,
reaching the secular world through her hands-on experience with rape
victims as a nurse for many years, and shaking the spiritual world both
with her unique explanation of the very interesting story of Tamar, and
by 'putting us in remembrance' of the duties God gave us to perform."
Barbara Smith
is a Licensed Minister under the pastorate of Pastor Marvin L. Winans
of Perfecting Church in Detroit. She is an instructor in the Academy to
Perfection, which is the church's Sunday School Department. Min.
Barbara is the Founder and Executive Director of Hidden Jewels
International, a growing ministry dedicated to empowering and
instructing women in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. In addition,
