FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pastor and Author, Dr. Joseph C. Parker, Jr., Shows Us How to Transform Our Communities Through His Book, Holy Change

Holy ChangeATLANTA (December 30, 2008) -- Dr. Joseph C. Parker Jr., asks this rather thought- provoking question in the introduction of his newest book, Holy Change: A Systemic Approach to Transforming a Community: "Why has the witnessing of the good news of Jesus Christ not caused our cities to change?"

Throughout the pages of Holy Change: A Systemic Approach to Transforming a Community, Dr. Parker sets out to answer that very important question. Using a practical, easily adaptable theological and biblically-based approach, he provides deep insight into the issues confronting American communities—issues that are not new, but issues that we have been dealing with for a long time. Dr. Parker not only discusses these issues, but he also provides long-lasting, life-transforming solutions.

Holy Change is a systematic approach to community transformation and revitalization that seeks to examine and evaluate factors related to the development and implementation of a neighborhood revitalization initiative. Dr. Parker stresses the importance of church involvement in the transforming of a community. According to Dr. Parker, the church cannot proceed with its own vision; it has to genuinely partner with the affected community in order to achieve permanent change.

Here’s what others are saying about Holy Change: A Systemic Approach to Transforming a Community:

"Holy Change by Dr. Joseph C. Parker, Jr., offers us a sound, biblical- theological approach to community transformation that should be noted by all change agents--inside or outside the church."
--Dr. Eldin Villafañe
Professor of Christian Social Ethics
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary

"In his book, Holy Change: A Systemic Approach to Transforming a Community, Joseph Parker blends together solid Biblical principles with uncommon common sense as he calls the church of Jesus Christ to be committed to both the spiritual transformation of persons and the social transformation of places...If you are interested in the whole gospel for the whole world by the whole church you should take hold of this book and let it take hold of you."
--Paul W. Powell, Former Dean,
George W. Truett Theological Seminary
Baylor University
