Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

As you may recall, we are in a series titled "How to Avoid Being Destroyed by the Devil". Last week, we covered the third message in this series titled "How to Resist the Devil and Make him Flee". In that message, we covered two important points, which are as follows:

I. Satan will attack you at your weakest point

II. Jesus resisted the Devil with the Word of God.

Our message for today is titled, "How to Defeat the Tactics of the Devil".

I. THE DEVIL WILL TEMPT YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN

After Jesus said, "Get thee hence, Satan", the Bible says in Matthew 4:11 that "the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him." Does that mean that the Devil will never come back and tempt you again? Of course not, for Luke 4:13 says, "He [the Devil] departed from Jesus FOR A SEASON," not forever. He was only gone for a season. He never gives up. He will come back with the same temptation later. But when he does, simply repeat the same tactic that Jesus used -- apply the Word of God so that you can resist temptation and defeat the Devil.

For every temptation, there is an appropriate verse. The Sword of the Spirit is sufficient.

Suppose the Devil puts a thought in your mind to commit immorality. As soon as the thought, temptation, or desire comes, then resist the Devil. An appropriate verse for such a temptation is I Corinthians 6:19-20: "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

When Satan tempts you to commit immorality, say, "Get thee hence, Satan, for it is written, 'Glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

II. WE MUST RESIST THE DEVIL IN THE NAME OF JESUS

It is important to note that Satan did not depart from Jesus until He said, "Get thee hence, Satan." In the first two temptations, Jesus simply quoted an appropriate verse to combat the temptation. In the third temptation Jesus said, "Get the hence, Satan," and the Bible says, "He departed..." The Devil will not leave until you tell him to.

I might say that the Devil is too powerful for us, but he is not too powerful for the indwelling presence of Christ. We must say, "In the name of Jesus, get thee hence.."

If you knock on my door at night and say, "Let me in," I might not let you in. But if someone knocks on my door, shows me a policeman's badge and says, "In the name of the law, let me in," I don't have much choice. And when we say, "in the name of Jesus," the Devil doesn't have a choice. When he hears the name, he trembles. he still remembers Calvary. He knows that he is a defeated foe and on that cross Jesus Christ bruised his head.

When we mention the name of Jesus to the Devil, he remembers his defeat. And the Bible says the devils are subject to us through His name. Jesus said in Luke 10:20, "Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven." If we resist the Devil by quoting an appropriate verse to combat the temptation and tell him to leave in the name of Jesus, he will depart. Oh, he may come back; and if he does, repeat the same process, even if he comes back five or six times the same day with the same temptation or the same doubt.

Now this may seem strange at first, but I can assure you that it works: first, because the Bible says so; and second, because I have put it into practice in my own life and have seen it work.

A preacher once gave a Bible lesson on resisting the devil to his congregation. The next week a lady came to him screaming, "It works! It works!"

"What works?" asked the preacher.

"Resisting the Devil. It works!" The woman told the story of how she had been tempted and how she quoted an appropriate verse and commanded the Devil to leave in Jesus' name. "And as soon as I did it, the temptation was gone," she said. The temptation was gone because the tempter had departed.

Dr. Tom Malone had been preaching in a little country church one Sunday. While he was driving home after the service, the Devil got to putting thoughts in his mind. Dr. Malone said, "He sat right there on the front seat of the car with me and said, 'You are crazy. You are killing yourself. You drove all those miles over there to preach to that little handful of people. That one man who got saved -- how do you know he was saved? He probably just came down the aisle to make you feel good because you drove so far.'"

Dr. Malone said, "The Devil bugged me until I had about all I could take. So pulling over to the side of the road, I stopped the engine, got out, went around to the passenger side, opened the door, and said, 'Devil, this is my car. I pay the notes and the insurance on this car, and you have ridden with me as far as you are going to go. Now, get out!' I slammed the door, got in on the other side and drove on home."

Friend, you are going to have to learn to open the door and say, "Get out!"

One could break sinful habits this way. Take, for instance, the habit of smoking. If you are one who "lights up," write the verses from I Corinthians 6:19-20 on a 3 x 5 card and place it in your shirt pocket. Then every time you have a desire for a cigarette, reach into that shirt pocket where you usually keep cigarettes, and instead of finding cigarettes, you will find the little 3 x 5 card. Pulling it out, you can simply say, "Devil, I know where this desire to smoke came from. But the Bible says in I Corinthians 6:19-20, 'What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.' Now, Devil, I'm not going to listen to you, but I'm going to do what the Bible says -- glorify God in my body. I command you in Jesus' name take your desire to smoke and leave with it!"

If James 4:7 is true, the Devil will flee. And when he flees, the desire to smoke will flee with him. But remember, when he departed from Jesus, he only departed for a season. He will come back later with the same desire. When he does, repeat the same process. As time goes by, the desires to smoke will get further and further apart until you have finally broken the habit.

Now if you are going to be successful in resisting the Devil, you must be familiar with your weapon -- the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Think of your worst temptation, the one you have the most often. Find an appropriate verse, and get ready to resist the Devil. Then find verses for every other temptation, and resist the Devil. He will flee from you.

The Word of God is not given to decorate coffee tables or bookshelves but to use. It is the Sword of the Spirit and you are a soldier of Jesus Christ.

III. OVERCOME THE DEVIL THROUGH PRAYER

Part of the whole armor of God is to pray. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:18, "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"

Matthen Henry writes in his famous commentary on this verse "Prayer must fasten all the other parts of our Christian armour. There are other duties of religion, and of our stations in the world, but we must keep up times of prayer. Though set and solemn prayer may not be seasonable when other duties are to be done, yet short pious prayers darted out, always are so. We must use holy thoughts in our ordinary course. A vain heart will be vain in prayer. We must pray with all kinds of prayer, public, private, and secret; social and solitary; solemn and sudden: with all the parts of prayer; confession of sin, petition for mercy, and thanksgiving for favours received. And we must do it by the grace of God the Holy Spirit, in dependence on, and according to, his teaching. We must preserve in particular requests, notwithstanding discouragements. We must pray, not for ourselves only, but for all saints. Our enemies are mighty, and we are without strength, but our Redeemer is almighty, and in the power of his mighty we may overcome. Wherefore we must stir up ourselves. Have not we, when God has called, often neglected to answer? Let us think upon these things, and continue our prayers with patience."

The Bible also says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, "Pray without ceasing."

And Mark 14:38 states, "Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak."

William Cowper said, "Satan trembles when he sees. The weakest saint upon his knees."

Here are some takeaways from this message:

1. Understand that the Devil will return time after time to try and get you to do evil.

2. Identify the sins that you are most tempted with, find Bible verses related to those sins, and memorize them so that you can quote them whenever you are tempted. You can also write these verses out on cards or put them on your phone so you can have them with you at all times.

3. When you tell the Devil to leave, remember to do so in the name of Jesus.

4. Always pray.

Now, if you are listening today and you do not know Jesus Christ as your savior, then you are still under the Devil's power -- you are still on your way to hell. If you want to be delivered from the Devil, from sin, and from hell, allow me to share with you from God's Word how you can accept the free gift of salvation that Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead to give to you.

1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God's law. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:20: "For there is not a just man upon earth that doeth good, and sinneth not." Romans 3:23 reads: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."

2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death..."

3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." The Bible says in Revelation 21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

4. Accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself! The Bible states in Ephesians 2: 8, 9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast."

5. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself, and that He wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

6. With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very moment. The Bible states in the book of Romans 10:9, 13: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

If you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please pray with me the following simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

The church was filled with well-known pastors, singers, musicians, movie directors, actors, and music moguls from different backgrounds and walks of life. They all came not only to celebrate her life, but to celebrate her faith and love for God. ]]>

Believe it or not, Whitney Houston was a witness for the Lord throughout her life even though she had gotten away from the Lord in her personal life from time to time. But like Samson she brought more glory to God in her death than in her life. She brought more people to the House of God to hear the Word of God, from all over the world, than some people will bring in a lifetime. Someone asked the Governor of New Jersey, 'why are you flying the flags half-staff for Whitney Houston? She had some drug abuse issues in her life.' The governor replied, "but for the grace of God go I."

Some people may doubt if Whitney Houston went to Heaven when she died based upon some things she did in her latter years. If that were the basis for going to Heaven, then we could also doubt if some of the servants of the Lord whom God used in the Bible went to Heaven as well. Moses was a murderer, yet God allowed him to lead the Israelites to the Promised Land and God gave Him the Ten Commandments which, by the way, included the command, "Thou shalt not kill." David was an adulterer, murderer, and liar, but yet he was the king of Israel and remained so after he sinned, and despite his sins, God still called him a man after His own heart. Samson was a womanizer who used his God-given gifts and talents for his own purposes, yet God used him at the end of his life and even through his death to bring victory for the Israelites over their enemies for the glory of God. Peter committed the ultimate sin of denying he knew Christ, not once, not twice, but three times, yet he was the first one to enter the empty tomb of Jesus Christ after His resurrection, he was used by God to bring the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to the whole known world in the book of Acts, he wrote two books in the New Testament, and was used by God to be a key leader in the early church. Just based upon their behaviour and actions, none of these servants of the Lord should be in Heaven. But I can assure you that they are, not based upon their behaviour but based upon their belief in Jesus Christ - the Messiah. Whitney Houston, by the accounts of several of her friends and by her own words, believed in Jesus Christ and loved Him all the way to the end of her life.

After a week of gathering information on her spiritual life, I am convinced that I will see Whitney in Heaven, along with Moses, David, Samson, and Peter. The question today is will I see you in Heaven? Dr. John MacArthur, who is a biblical scholar, said, "Heaven is a place more wonderful than we can ever begin to imagine. It is a place of joy and beauty, of peace and happiness that will never end." (end of quote) Just last night, after looking at a broadcast regarding Whitney Houston, they showed the movie "The Bodyguard", which Whitney Houston starred in with Kevin Costner. For the first time I watched that movie, and to my surprise, it was a good movie, and I told my family that Heaven will be like a great movie that never ends. Dr. John MacArthur continues by saying, "Heaven is also a place where there will be no sin or suffering, no sorrow or pain. Heaven is the place where we will have perfect joy, perfect peace, perfect knowledge, and live in perfect comfort. We will love God perfectly and will be loved perfectly by Him. His love will engulf us forever." Will I see you in this beautiful place called Heaven? If you were to die today and you're not sure that you would go to this place called Heaven where not only Moses, David, Samson, and Peter are, but where I believe Whitney Houston is, allow me to show you how you can be sure right now:

These are the words to a famous song written by Carvin Winans and Deborah Winans, and first sung by Carvin and his brothers Marvin, Michael, and Ronald in 1984. Carvin, Marvin, and their youngest brother, BeBe Winans sung this song again at Whitney Houston's homegoing service on Saturday, February 18, 2012 in Newark, New Jersey at the New Hope Baptist Church.

The words to this song are a powerful reminder to all of us that tomorrow is not promised us. James 4:13-14 states, "Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." I am sure that Whitney Houston looked forward to attending her music mentor, Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party in the days before her death. She even told him that she was working on getting her voice back and that she would be "ready by August". By many accounts she was looking forward to the future and to doing what she loved to do and spending time with her precious daughter, Bobbi Kristina. And for those of you who think that Whitney Houston had a death wish or a suicidal mentality, I assure you that the last thing on earth she wanted to do was die with her daughter just turning 18 years old. But "tomorrow" never came for Whitney Houston. Tomorrow is not promised to come for you or for me. Since today is all we have, this moment is all we have, the question is if you were to die today, are you ready to meet your Creator? Apparently, Whitney Houston was ready to meet Jesus Christ. Somewhere in her young life, she decided to believe in Jesus Christ. She loved Him and she knew that He loved her. She did not put off believing in Jesus until "tomorrow". 2 Corinthians 6:2 states, "now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation."

Dear friend, many people who were alive yesterday are dead this morning. Many people who thought they would be here today are not here. So, "Don't let this moment slip away." Don't put off accepting Christ until tomorrow or until some other time. "Your tomorrow could very well be today." If you want to be ready to meet your Creator as Whitney Houston was, allow me to show you how:

John 3:16 reads, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

"For God so loved the world" means that if you are in the world, God loves you. No matter who you are, where you are, or what you have done, God loves you.

God loves you more than you love yourself. He loves you so much so "that He gave His only begotten Son." His only begotten son is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and for mine, He was buried, and on the third day, He rose from the dead.

"that whosoever believeth in Him", whosoever means anybody of any race, any color, any belief system, or any socio-economic status can believe on Jesus Christ.

"should not perish, but have everlasting life." if you believe on Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you will not perish in hell, instead you will have everlasting life in heaven with God.

The Bible also says in Romans 10:9 and 13: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.... For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

But some of the men who play on the field will be quick to tell you that football -- even the Super Bowl -- is not the main thing in life.

Devin Thomas, a wide receiver for the New York Giants who was a decisive player in the NFC Championship Game that sent the Giants to the Super Bowl says, "Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and I put Him first. He's given me this opportunity to showcase on a large scale about the work He has done in my life."

Hakeem Nix, wide receiver for the New York Giants and one time NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month, says "I'm all in. I'm all in with Christ ... He put me here to exalt Him and humble myself."

Deion Branch, wide receiver for the New England Patriots, two time Super Bowl Champion, and one-time Super Bowl MVP, says "Life is bigger than football. You can't do this forever. What I'm going to be is a God-fearing Christian."

Rosa Parks -- A Woman Praised

be praised".

Rosa Parks was the first woman to lie in state in the Capitol rotunda of the United States of America. Mrs. Parks is the first black woman to be chosen to have a statue in Statutory Hall in Washington, D.C. And she is one of the very few women who has had not just one, not just two, but three funeral services. Why was this humble and quiet lady so praised at the end of her life?

How did it all begin? Rosa Parks, who was known by all to be a Christian lady and a woman who had a "meek and quiet spirit", on a very memorable day in December of 1955, in the segregated city of Montgomery, Alabama, refused to give up her seat to a white man, when asked to get up. Many have said, "she sat down so that we all could stand up." She was not boisterous, she did not fuss and fight, but won that battle through the "content of her character" and through a Godly and quiet spirit.

After this incident, she lost her job and was persecuted. However, she never said a mumbling word. She never pitched a fit. She never sought the spotlight. And she never tried to profit from her fame. How could Rosa Parks do this? She did it because she knew the Lord, feared the Lord, and served the Lord. And this is why she will forever be "A Woman Praised."

Rosa Parks made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Do you want to know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour as well? Here's how:

God loves you and not only wants you to have a fulfilling life on earth, He also wants you to live with Him in Heaven forever. He's the one who offers you a paid-in-full ticket. No one wants to go to hell where there will be no joy and no pleasures whatsoever, and God doesn't want anyone to go there either. The Bible says in 2 Peter 3:9 that God is "not willing that any should perish".

But there is a problem with getting that free ticket. We have all done wrong--we have all sinned, haven't we? God's Word says in 1 John 1:8, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves". Sin pollutes--it makes us unclean, unfit for God's presence in that wonderful, perfect place called Heaven. Sin penalizes--it separates us from a sinless God. Romans 6:23 says, "for the wages of sin is death".

In short, our sinfulness blocks the delivery of the ticket that we need to get into Heaven!

Who paid for it?

Wait! There's good news! Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth to be born and to live His life without sin. 1 Peter 3:18 says, Jesus "once suffered for [our] sins, the just [One] for the unjust [all of us!], that He might bring us to God". When God "laid on Him the iniquity [sins] of us all", Jesus cried out, "My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?". The answer is simple and profound: Jesus was separated from God because He took your place and mine on the cross, and by dying He paid in full the "wages" our sins had earned.

Then He rose from the dead, was seen by hundreds of people, and is alive today so you can know Him and receive the gift of eternal life--your ticket to Heaven. That's right! The Bible says this about all who believe in His name in John 1:12: "as many as received Him [Jesus], to them gave He power to become the sons of God".

That is fantastic! You can become a "new" person--born of God--to start a brand new life that pleases God. And, of course, all God's children have a ticket to Heaven!

Do you want it?

It is no accident you are hearing this message today. God has made sure you can receive it. The whole issue is, did Jesus pay for all your sins or didn't He? God said He did. Trust God that it is so. John 3:36 says, "He that believeth on the Son [of God] hath everlasting life".

Just as a man says, "Yes, I will take this woman to be my wife," God wants you to tell Him, "Yes, I will take Jesus to be my Savior. I believe that He is the only way to Heaven." The Bible says in 1 John 5:12, "He that hath the Son [Jesus] hath life".

If you believe that God's way to Heaven is the only way and that Jesus Christ died for you, was buried, and rose again, you can "claim your ticket" by telling God in words like these:

Dear God, I have sinned. I know I have offended You in many ways. I am so sorry. I believe that Jesus suffered and died for my sins, paid my debt in full, and rose again. Jesus, I believe in You and thank You for what You've done for me. Please save me from the penalty of my sins, and give me a new birth and the power to live for You. Thank You for this offer to spend eternity in Heaven with You!

Remember what John 3:36 says: "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life."

Congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!

Things That Must be Believed (Part 4)

Philippians 3:20-21: "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself." ]]>

Last week, we finished part 3 of our series titled "Things That Must Be Believed." In this series, we are discussing the essentials of the Christian faith -- these are things that you cannot deny and still have Christianity. Just as a reminder, allow me to refresh your memory of the six essentials that we have already covered:

1. The Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ -- that Jesus Christ was not conceived by the natural union of a human man and woman, but supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Mary. The Bible says in Isaiah 7:14, "Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel."

2. The Deity of Jesus Christ -- that Jesus Christ is God. According to Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23 Jesus Christ is "God with us". While He was on this earth, Christ showed that He was God by demonstrating his eternality, his equality with the Father, his omniscience, his omnipresence, and his omnipotence.

3. The Substitutionary Death of Jesus Christ -- that Jesus Christ died on the cross in the place of sinners who were guilty and condemned by God. The Bible says in II Corinthians 5:21, "For he hath made him -- Jesus Christ -- to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." If Jesus Christ did not die on a cross in the sinner's place to pay the sinner's debt, then we don't have a way to be saved.

4. The Physical Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead -- that Jesus literally, physically got up from the grave three days after He had been killed. The Bible says in Romans 10:9, "That if thou shalt confess with they mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." That which separates Christianity from all other religions is the resurrection. Every religion has a founder who lived and died and is still in the tomb. But Christianity has a Founder who lived and died and was buried, and after three days and nights arose from the dead.

5. The Verbal Inspiration of the Bible -- that the Bible is God's Word through and through. Second Timothy 3:16 says, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." My friend, if you destroy the Bible, you destroy all other doctrines.

6. The Fact that Salvation For Lost Mankind Is Only by God's Grace Through Faith In Our Lord Jesus Christ Who Died On the Cross, Was Buried, and Rose Again For Our Sins. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." The Word of God clearly teaches that lost sinners are saved by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and His death, burial, and resurrection.

Today, we are going to discuss the seventh and final essential in this series, which is: THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST.

THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST

If Jesus Christ does not come again, then many, many verses in the Bible would be untrue. In John 14:3, Jesus said, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." In Philippians 3:20, Paul said, "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ." Jesus is coming again.

There are 20 times as many references to the second coming of Christ in the Old Testament as there are to His first coming. Then in Paul's epistles, he speaks of baptism only 13 times but of the second coming at least 50 times.

Among the last words Jesus uttered before He left this world were the following in John 14:1-3: "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

At His ascension in Acts 1:10, the Bible states, "And while they (the disciples) looked stedfastly toward heaven as Jesus went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."

It is believed that these men in white apparel were angels, and that they said, "This same Jesus...shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." How did Jesus leave? Visibly. He will return visibly. He left in a body; He will return in a body. He left from the Mount of Olives; and as the Bible predicts in Acts 1:12 and Zechariah 14:4, He will return to the Mount of Olives.

Philippians 3:20 says, "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ." And Hebrews 9:28 says, "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."

The Bible is filled with promises of Jesus' second coming. In Revelation 22 -- once in verse 7, once in verse 12, and again in verse 20 -- Jesus says, "Behold I come quickly," "Behold, I come quickly," Surely I come quickly..." And the Bible closes with the Apostle John saying in Revelation 22:21, "Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen."

Friends, one verse in every thirty in the New Testament refers to the second coming.

An old-fashioned preacher brought a wonderful sermon on the second coming; and, at the close of the service, one of these little, young, modernistic, potato-string backbone, rose-water squirting preachers, who start nowhere and end up in the same place, said to the old preacher, "I want you to know that I can't get that out of the New Testament."

The old-fashioned preacher smiled and said, "You sure can't, Buddy. It's in there to stay!"

There are 259 chapters in the New Testament, and over 300 references to the second coming of Jesus Christ. Yes, the promise of the second coming of Christ is in the Bible to stay.

The second coming of Jesus Christ is an essential truth that must be believed.

Before we close, let's review one more time the essential truths of Christianity that we have looked at in this series. Ask yoiurself if you really believe what the Bible says about these matters. They are as follows:

The Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ
The Deity of Jesus Christ
The Substitutionary Death of Jesus Christ
The Physical Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead
The Verbal Inspiration of the Bible
The Fact that Salvation For Lost Mankind Is Only by God's Grace Through Faith In Our Lord Jesus Christ Who Died On the Cross, Was Buried, and Rose Again For Our Sins
The Second Coming of Jesus Christ

Now, if Jesus Christ were to return today, are you ready to meet Him? If you do not know for sure that you will go to heaven when you die, allow me to share with you from God's Word how you can accept the free gift that Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead to give to you.

1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God's law. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:20: "For there is not a just man upon earth that doeth good, and sinneth not." Romans 3:23 reads: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."

2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death..."

3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." The Bible says in Revelation 21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

4. Accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself! The Bible states in Ephesians 2: 8, 9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast."

5. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself, and that He wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

6. With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very moment. The Bible states in the book of Romans 10:9, 13: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

If you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please pray with me the following simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

Did you know that God has already sent a special invitation to you? He doesn't require that you dress up to approach Him or turn over a new leaf to impress Him. You can come just as you are. Yet this is the most important invitation you will ever receive.

The Lord had His invitation placed in Isaiah 55:6: "Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near". Jesus Himself invites you in Matthew 11:28, "Come unto me, ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest".

Are you afraid to come to Him, fearful that you won't measure up? The truth is, He already knows each of us inside and out--our strengths and potential, our fears and weaknesses. He also knows all the things that we would like to hide from Him...and from the rest of the world! Yet God, who is totally pure and holy and who hates our sins, still loves us. He wants us to turn in belief to Him "from darkness to light... that [we] may receive forgiveness of sins". Jesus said in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life".

To make forgiveness possible while still meeting the demands of justice, God's perfect Son, Jesus Christ, died in our place. We no longer have to suffer the punishment we deserve for our sins. Instead, Jesus promises in John 5:24 that "He that heareth my word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath eternal life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life", from sin's darkness to God's eternal light!

God invites you to enjoy new life in His family, beginning the moment you trust Him as your Savior: John 1:12 says, "But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name". He was named "Fighter of the Decade" for the 2000s by the Boxing Writers Association of America. He is also a three-time BWAA "Fighter of the Year", winning the award in 2006, 2008, and 2009. Aside from boxing, he has participated in acting, music recording, and politics. In May 2010, he was elected to the Philippine House of Representatives in the 15th Congress of the Philippines. Many believe that one day he will be president of the Philippines.

He says of the recent change in his life, "If I had died last year or in the last two years, I am sure I would've gone straight to Hell...My faith in God was there 100 percent but behind it, after prayers, I would still do evil things." The change came about because of a dream that led him to give up gambling, alchohol and womanizing. He said, "I was in a beautiful forest when a bright light was shone upon me. A voice asked me, 'Son why are you going away from me?' I woke up crying. I remember I was crying in my dream and when I touched my pillow, it was wet." After waking up, he looked through the Bible and found that God sometimes speaks to people in dreams. He said, "I told myself this dream is real and I have to change my life. The change came not just because I desired it, but because God changed me." He goes on further to say, "Being a Christian means accepting Christ as your Savior, your God. That's why you are called a 'Christian.' If you remove Christ, there's only 'IAN' and that means 'I am nothing." His name is Manny Pacquiao (PAK-ee-ow).

This is the "Chief of Sinners," Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, and just as Manny Pacquiao gave his life to Christ, may I encourage you to do the same. Here is how:

1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God's law. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:20: "For there is not a just man upon earth that doeth good, and sinneth not." Romans 3:23 reads: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." In fact, I am the chief of sinners, so don't think that you're alone.

2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death..."

3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." The Bible says in Revelation 21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

4. Accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself! The Bible states in Ephesians 2: 8, 9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast."

5. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself, and that He wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

6. With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very moment. The Bible states in the book of Romans 10:9, 13: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

From his personal testimony--In 1934, when a guest minister at Ebenezer made a strong pitch for the salvation of young souls, Martin Luther King, Jr. watched his sister rise to make the first profession of faith. Impulsively, as he later confessed, "I decided that I would not let her get ahead of me, so I was the next.

"Dr. King also said: "Bound by the chains of his own sin and finiteness, man needs a Saviour (Jesus Christ). Man cannot save himself, for man is not the measure of all things and humanity is not God."

"Only through an inner spiritual transformation do we gain the strength to fight victoriously the evils of the world in a humble and loving spirit."

He played college football at the University of Mississippi. During his senior season at Ole Miss, he was awarded the Butkus Award and the Jack Lambert Award as the nation's top linebacker. A year later as a member of the 49ers, he led the NFL in tackles, earned First Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors while being named the 2007 AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. He has earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in all five years he has played in the NFL. He is the only player to receive the Butkus Award for best linebacker in more than one category. He is regarded by many as the best inside linebacker in professional football.

He says of his faith, "My grandmother was a big influence on my life. Through her, I learned about having a relationship with Jesus Christ. My grandmother always told us about faith and always put us in church." When he joined the San Francisco team five seasons ago, they were a losing team. But he never doubted that's where God wanted him to play. He recalls the prayer he prayed just before the NFL draft, he said, "Lord, you know I don't know where I'm going to go. I've done everything I could possibly do to put myself in the best situation. Wherever you bless me to go, that's where I'm going to play the best football I can possibly play. Whatever happens on this day, it's your will." He goes further to say, "No matter the outcome of a game, my No.1 goal is to glorify God. I always pray, Lord, I don't know what today's game is going to be like, but I pray that you bless me to go out here and play for you. Be a soldier for your army, go out here and lead this team the way you want me to lead it." His name is Patrick Willis.

We smile at the crowd's failure to appreciate something new or different. But being wrong can be a serious problem when it comes to our relationship to God. Too much is at stake.

Because you and I have sinned against God and man, we deserve God's punishment. The Bible says in Romans 6:23 that "the wages of sin is death," eternal separation from God.

But God offers us "eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord", according to Romans 6:23. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

You can be wrong about many things, but you dare not be wrong about Christ. Through faith in Him you can be saved just as you are. Your sins can be forgiven and the peace of God can fill your life: John 1:12 says, "As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name".

Whom will you choose? The crowd or Christ?
